The first thing that you notice about Jonathan Blaine is his genuine desire to fulfill Gods will in his life. The second thing is the meticulous degree of musicality and feeling that he puts into every song. These two things make a great combination when striving to make a life of musical outreach.
"I have a longing to communicate to people the importance of salvation and the utter magnitude of Christs sacrifice on the cross," says Jonathan. A musical calling has always been evident in his life. At age three Jonathan was singing and strumming a ukelele with his mothers group, Homespun, on stage at Silver Dollar City, in Branson, Missouri. He spent every summer playing in Branson until age ten, when his family moved to Arizona. In Arizona, Jonathan began violin lessons and teaching himself guitar, along with refining his relationship with, and understanding of God. Being heavily influenced by favorite band, Third Day, Jonathan decided to try his hand at song writing, and discovered a gift. He began taking spiritual refuge in songwriting with heart-touching lyrics and music the result. This was the point in which Jonathan decided that music was what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. Jonathan then began taking interest in fiddle playing. He entered many contests and finally worked his way up to the Arizona State Fiddle Contest where he and his younger brother Jordan, both took first place in their divisions in 97 and 98. After listening to a recording of the late Stephane Grappelli, Jonathan decided to learn Jazz violin. In the summer of 98 Jonathan auditioned for and received one of three scholarships to the Berklee College of Musics summer performance program, in Boston. Jonathans musical education is evident in his music as he will be entering his junior year at Northern Arizona University at age seventeen. He is majoring in violin performance with an emphasis in jazz. Academic achievement has always been of utmost importance to Jonathan, and he has excelled rapidly because of it. He was able to forego his seventh grade year and with the presence of a community college, was able to complete his first year of college while meeting graduation requirements for high school. If one thing is evident in Jonathans music, it is the urgency in making spiritual decisions now. "People will always procrastinate important spiritual decisions when they dont know what the future holds in store." No matter who the audience, Jonathan will always seek out true communication only possible through Christ.
